news: best pub in york
Once again we were short listed for the best pub in York. In a competition run by the city’s official tourist board, Visit York, The Ackhorne, the Evil Eye, the Golden Fleece, the House Of The Trembling Madness and The Maltings battled it out to take the crown in the city’s annual Tourism Awards, unfortunately this year it was left to the public to vote through an online poll so the winner was to be the pub that did the best marketing. As we don't believe in advertising and marketing we were always going to lose.
Therefore the Golden Fleece won - we don't even know this pub as none of us have been there recently. So far this year has seen some great new beers in store and on tap plus some excellent new food additions. We have treated the customers with some top quality French horse (due to the ridiculous media attention from horse our local Yorkshire beef has had 3 price rises and we still haven't increased any prices for food or drink. Supermarkets have been pressured into buying British thus demand has soared, we are happy for the local farmers of course) . Thanks to all those who voted for us! (And we will still have a party!) The awards promo video made by Orillo Productions can be seen below. news: happy new year
Hurray! A new year brings new beers to our shelves and pumps. Hopefully this year will once again see an increase in bottling of new British microbrewery beers. It was good to see Ampleforth Abbey Ale on TV up against the Belgium ales, if you missed it then follow this link. If you are a brewery and would like to see your beers on our shelves please do contact us here.
Once again thank you to all our customers for their support over christmas and the new year, without your beer consumption we wouldn't be here, long may it last and let us hope that the government holds back on duty this year so we can all afford to drink the best beer in the world right here in York. news: proud sponsors of the york beer festival
Hope you made it to the beer festival and found something you liked, we stock the majority of the ales on show plus many many more. The event was held at York racecourse - visit the website here
http://www.yorkbeerfestival.org.uk/2012/ The festival was very well organised and a big thank you to all the CAMRA people involved, and also thanks for inviting Trembling Madness on to the tasting panel (although our favourite ales didn't win - dark ones again). Locale Overall Festival Winners 2012
