We are working hard behind the scenes changing the businesses as life has changed around us. We're quickly racking a cool warehouse and relocating the online business there whilst we have developed a new website for easier shopping (launching soon).
Lendal is open as a pub first floor and retail ground floor, this will change, our basement is becoming additional seating, the ground floor will also have seating and our function rooms also seating - so basically sit down as we have loads of seats. Our food menu is expanding daily - breakfasts are back by demand. Our beer taps will once again become 25 lines. We will be continuing to offer take out and growler fills. Just remember the staff have to do table service over 5 floors - 10,000 steps on your fitbit before lunch! Stonegate will finally be open offering over 4000 products to take away. The medieval bar will be back open but with a traffic light system in place. We don't know what the traffic lights will do or mean but we'll have them anyway. Maybe Green: Drink then Red: You've drunk too much, we'll get there. The Madness & Chamber apartments are open, the perfect calm safe place to unwind in the centre of York. As much free PPE as you want - sleep in your mask and gloves, bathe yourself with gel - let us bring you drinks and food. Madness will be back, doing things the madness way but a little overboard with full-on PPE. #nothingbeatstremblingmadness

So here's a message on from Lervig on the new Nitro Hot ChocolateSo in true Lervig / North fashion we made an extremely decedent and bold stout. On to of that we added about 3 times the normal amount of cocoa nibs to get the deepest most natural chocolate flavour we possibly could. Tasting great in the tank… time to run it on the cans! We were super excited to test our new widget cans out. The thing is… We may have crammed a little too much beer into the cans (500ml widget cans only hold 440ml of liquid… who knew???). So, this one’s going to erupt when you open it… Therefore we can only say sorry for the mess, however you can still get most of it into the glass if you are quick, and if you serve it cold you’ll curtail most of the spill (really avoid opening this at room temperature!). BTW the glass form is very important to allow that perfect cascading action and achieve the creamy foam for nitro beers. Use a flat bottom tapered glass, don’t use a stem wine, tulip, or wheat beer glass please!
Founded by Lefteris Mesimeris & Costantin Pougatsias who are mad passionate about craft beer. Seven island brewery is a microbrewery based on the Greek island of Corfu. The name refers to the seven island complex that Corfu belongs to. The logo was inspired by the Venetian symbol adopted by Corfu, St.Mark's Lion. These guys are producing some great beers, especially their hefty stouts.
They've also just made “Cape Hope” DIPA which stands for the light of hope a traveller searches for, through a dark time. With reference to COVID-19 this beer is a call to find a way to come outside to the light stronger, better and of course hoppier than ever before. It's a collab with Sori in Estonia. “They say that the darkest time is just seconds before the dawn “ Been a busy day, preparing for guests arriving this weekend. We have had a de-clutter so unfortunately the games, books and dvd's have gone. I think santising every single Ker-Plunk marble would be too much for us to cope with. Time to celebrate, Dugges is 15 years old and they've brewed some special birthday beers with 15 ingredients in each one. We've also created a Dugges sample pack, one our best packs yet, this brewery is at the heart of the Gothenburg Craft Beer scene, pioneering craft beer before the UK scene even began. Vault City Brewing was started in Edinburgh just over two years ago by IT consultant Steven Smith-Hay and brewer Johnny Horn – both experienced homebrewers with a passion for making sour beer. "Many people producing sour beer in the UK have been using fast-souring methods. But we prefer the more traditional method of mixed fermentation with our own unique house culture – cultured from yeast and bacteria we’ve come across over our years of homebrewing.” Their beer immediately became a favourite here at Trembling Madness, we love well made sours and they don't get much better than Vault City. Loaded full of flavour and in a satisfying large bottle. Sit back and enjoy the Vault City experience.....
Hailing from Falmouth, Verdant have been brewing 6 years, they where the one of the forerunners of the New England UK boom. There beers today are dank, juicy and full of flavour. We love Verdant, they stick to their style and do this as well as anyone in the country. They're from one of the least COVID infected places in the UK. So there beers safe, right? Of course, they must be, there's something in those hops, a natural sedative and they also reduce the bodies temperature. We have managed to stock 8 different current fresh beers this week, so we've got a excellent sampler pack for you.
Located in Gvarv, in the Telemark region of Norway, Lindheim is more than just a brewery, they are a farm and orchards, a bar and restaurant and all round beautiful place to visit. Specialising in wild fermented, sour beers often using the fruits from their own orchards, they are considered one of the hidden gems of Scandinavian brewing. What a place to be right this second - well we can't so lets just crack open one of their beers, lie down and imagine for a moment..............................................................sorry I'm still there...............
Bang up to date British brewing techniques give their pale ales & IPA's a refreshing hoppiness and wheat beers a new fresh angle. They're at the top of their game so take advantage of the fresh range we have currently in stock. You like Verdant & Deya then you'll love these.
Denmark // Happy Hygge // Clean & Clean living // Zero Corruption // 170m is the Largest Hill // Pubs are open. Well it's not exactly like the UK. We do however share the love of sausage, bacon, lego, spam (or is that just me?) and of course great craft beer. We continue to have a fresh flow from Gamma, Dry & Bitter - here's todays latest :
The tiny island of Run in the Banda Archipelago, Indonesia was exchanged for New Amsterdam in 1667. The Dutch wanted the prized nutmeg more than gold. Who knows what would have been today if that exchange didn't happen - a world without Other Half, Equilibrium, Barrier, KCBC, LIC and much more. We have had our shipment from New York - you may have missed the Equilibrium DIPA but there's still so much choice. If you did miss that DIPA don't worry as North Brews Touch Sensitive is better (that's our subjective opinion) but it is super fresh. DEYA Brewing Company was founded on a passion for outstanding beer and with the vision to create fresh, intense, delicious beers - hop forward with a low IBU. They're based in Cheltenham and in high demand, luckily they are the best kind of craft brewer and believe in supporting independent bottle shops. They send beer to us direct which allows all you people in York to get fresh Deya all the time. Thank you to all the wonderful people at Deya for giving us great beer x . Plus remember Steady is on draught at Lendal 7 days a week !!
Almost a hundred years ago, prohibition (1919-1933) ruled in the USA: the production and sale of alcohol was prohibited. An epoch of secrecy began. Moonshine was the name the farmers gave to their black distilled liquor, which they filled into preserving jars ("Mason Jars") and then sold on to smugglers, the so-called "bootleggers". The bottling jars were a precautionary measure because buying bottles quickly made people suspicious of being bootleggers. Our moonshines are much different today and are smooth, flavoursome anf easy drinking but based on tradition. See our range here
