The Spanish inspired nomad platter has appeared on the menu for Summer. It's a combination of some of our favourite sourced produce. Serrano ham, Lomo from Acorn fed Iberico pigs. Morcilla Belotta Iberico - a cured black pudding sausage. A cheese stuffed red chilli and some Spanish green chilli's. Picos Blue cheese which is wrapped in vine leaves and Monte Enebro which is made from goats milk (Currently out the country until next week so we have put a Spanish goats cheese with red wine in, superb). A selection of Spanish marinated olives and some giant capers. All served with Paysan butter and a selection of Via Vecchia bread freshly made on the Shambles and our salad which has some micro leaves and homemade dressing. All for £9, it's a plate of great ingredients that should be enjoyed with a cool glass of your favourite Madness beer.

Heyho, Here is a German Fan of the House of the Trembling Madness. I´ve been twice to York an spent almost every night in this beautiful pub! And I also admire(d) your great assortment of national and international beers - I´ve never seen so many beautiful beers in one place! Now I have an idea you should consider: In Austria there is a town called Fucking and they have a brewery. They make a great light ale. The German word for "light" is "hell". So they named their beer Fucking Hell... how great would that be, to find a brand like this in your range of international beers! You can get Fucking Hell in three shops in Ireland but not in England. So next time I come to York, I want to drink F.H. in The House of the Trembling Madness :) Cheers, Health and Happyness from Bamberg PS.: I was really proud to find the smoked beer Schlenkerla from my hometown in your beershop! http://www.fucking-hell.de/en/ "Thanks for your message we will look into finding and supplying this beer for you" Trembling Madness The House has been short listed for the Yorkshire Pub of the Year 2013, and we will be the only York pub in the competition. We will step up our game and try to win the prize for York. We'll be offering new food menus on a more regular basis, refitting and maintaining the pub continually and searching the country for some fantastic new taxidermy. We entered the competition and were short listed in 2011 and unfortunately came up against some gastro/bistro pubs that really weren't pubs as we know them - mainly table service restaurants that also served drinks. After speaking to yorkshire.com about this they have decided to introduce a category for them and keep the pub category for real traditional pubs so we may stick a chance of winning the coveted prize. Ian Loftus owner of Trembling Madness said "After ripping the bottom out of my pants at the last awards ceremony and leaving embarrassed I will reinforce my trousers and try to stay sober until the very end, although this year it is being held on my birthday and the drinks are free". Winners will be announced at the glittering ceremony on November 11 at New Dock Hall near the Royal Armouries, Leeds. Winners of each category will not only scoop one of these prestigious accolades, but they are also entered into the national tourism awards next year. The other finalists can be found here. |
