The brewery was founded in 1900 by Paul Cantillon, whose father was a brewer as well, and his wife, Marie Troch. As of 2011, the owner is Jean-Pierre van Roy, fourth-generation brewer at Cantillon. Since its foundation the only major change has been a shift to organic ingredients in 1999. Cantillon was one of more than one hundred operating breweries in Brussels at its foundation, and was the only one to remain operational through the 2000s. In 2014, van Roy announced that the brewery would be acquiring more maturation space, effectively doubling production by 2016-17. Cantillon produces 400,000 bottles of beer a year. We have stocked Cantillon for over 10 years, when we first started trading Cantillon was one of our slow selling core lines, it was seen as over priced and would sit gathering dust, today is a different case, Brasserie Cantillon is definitely one of the top for the style categories in the world but the current hype comes from the rarity of it. As far as geuzes and straight lambics, Tilquin and Drie Fonteinen are as good or some say better, now they sit gathering dust upon our shelves. Who knows in the future, people will discover and try these as well.
Want to read more on Cantillon? Then check out this article here At this time of writing we have Cantillon in stock - 11.47am 24th March 2021, we also had some last week and also have some next week. Not much but generally we will seek and find as much as we can in order for you to try some but please do try the other lambics we stock as they are fantastic.
