WC 31/07/23 JESTER KING SLEEPING VILLAGES, PASTORE, BARON, KROMME DE HARING, SOFIA ELECTRIC, TEN MEN & MORE!
Jester King recently released a new batch of Detritivore, this time in cans. They make Detritivore by taking the cherries from Montmorency vs. Balaton and re-fermenting them a second time with fresh beer. While not as intense as its big sibling MvB, Detritivore is still a cherry-forward beer given the sheer volume of fruit used in both re-fermentations.
Jester first brewed Le Petit Prince Farmhouse Table Beer in 2012. They've been brewing it once or twice per year since. Originally inspired by Brasserie Dupont's table beer called Avril. They sought to make a low-alcohol beer that's dry, drinkable, refreshing, crisp, hoppy with a little bit of beguiling yeast character that only wild fermentation with native yeast can create. Le Petit Prince is probably their favorite beer they make. It's certainly the truest to their core philosophy of beer making.
DE KROMME HARING
x DEYA CROCODILE TEARS
De Kromme's collab with Cheltenham-based Deya Brewing Co. is an expression of both their interest in experimental brews. They crafted a british style pale ale with spelt malt as well a dry hop with British Jester and US Azacca hops.
As an ode to that one classic brewer's favourite trappist beer they bottle fermented it with Brettanomyces yeast. Fruity, funky and delicious!
Sofia Electric's latest addition of a super juicy blend of American hops and dry hopped with New Zealand hops.
The beer abounds with rich grapefruit, pineapple, papaya and peach flavors (and that's just on first taste!) and it all rests on a canapé of a full-bodied oat malt base.
Forbidden candy is the new triple IPA in collaboration with their friends from Manchester, Pomona Island. Super refreshingly sweet and hoppy.
I am another new addition to the colorful family of Sofia Electric. Not that I'm bragging, but I'm extremely interesting - I'm made with Tonka Bean and Bourbon Vanilla.
I am a real emperor - strong and well aged, with an extremely dense body of 31°. My taste is rich, in me you can find notes of coffee, baked bread and vanilla.
I am very aromatic and dense. I'm also modest and would drink alone if I could.
This is one of Sofia Electric's main beers and will always be in their assortment. Dry-hopped with Citra and Mosaic, full-bodied and hazy golden in color, OVERFLOW NEIPA is the beer they reach for whenever they want a juicy IPA.
This week sees the return of Sleeping Village's Imperial Oat Stout brewed with coffee roasted by their talented friends Kaffa.
This edition utilizes their Dario Hernandez coffee from Guatemala which accents the rich base of English malts in their beer with notes of red berries, hazelnut and cocoa. This unique infusion adds a new level of complexity to this already decadent stout.
A unique twist on their flagship beer first brewed in 2017. This beer was cold fermented with Sleeping Village's favorite saison strain for 4 weeks and then dry hopped with layers of Crystal and Ekuanot hops.
An 8.2% Double IPA. No sharp edges. Baron's softest, fluffiest, fruitiest Double IPA yet. Proper macho stuff this. A hefty mixture of Mosaic and Galaxy at 28g/L. Mango and melon up to your eyeballs.
Burning Sky's benchmark mixed fermentation saison was aged for six months in oak to develop it’s distinctive flavour profile. The beer then spent a further three months on fresh Victoria and Marjorie plums. The sweet, yellow flesh gives a deep richness of flavour, whilst the dark skins lend colour and a balanced tartness to the beer.
Project 23 is their latest collaboration with Westwell Vineyard. A mixed fermentation beer was aged in Cognac barrels for three years before it was added to 200kg of unfermented, foot crushed Pinot Noir grapes. Fermentation of the grapes ran through the beer, producing an intense wine character.
TALUS E POMPELO
The return of one of Pastore's favourite beers they've made. Originally made two years ago with their friends from Suffolk Burnt Mill, lovingly recreated this month for those who missed it the first time or those who just want to drink it all over again.
Talus e Pompelmo is a hazy sour IPA fermented on pink grapefruit juice and dry hopped with Talus.
Sour IPAs are both one of their favourite styles to drink and one of the most innovative styles they brew. You won't find much else that tastes like this on the market. Lactic fermentation + hops = sunshine juice.
The base beer is a hazy IPA with zero bitterness, fermented with their fresh sour mixed culture bringing a lovely zippy acidity, refermented on pink grapefruit juice to bring more freshly squeezed citrus character and finally dry hopped with Talus bringing even more citrus and pith and light notes of coconut and vanilla.
Mmmmm….beer with marshmallows. For the most juicy beer cocktail, Ten Men's brewers combined raspberries, blackcurrants and sweet marshmallows. All this was nicely hopped, deliciously seasoned with coriander, balanced with salt and voila! Delicious beer is ready!
Unfiltered and unpasteurized light beer
The NEIPA novelty, which previously could only be tried by owners of GameBox 2.2. Note the high alcohol content of this beer. This gives it a unique taste.
WE SWEAR, THAT IT'S THE LAST TIME
WHEN WE GIVE THIS NAME TO BEER
Unfiltered and unpasteurized light beer
Ten Men have already brewed this beer in Vovchansk. It was very tasty and became a favorite of many. They decided to repeat this masterpiece.
A classic hopped NEIPA, there is almost no bitterness here. Light, drinkable, delicious...what else do you need for hot evenings?
BERRY BLOOD: RASPBERRY
Semi-dark unfiltered and unpasteurized beer
A distinctive feature of this style is the sweet-sour taste profile, which is created thanks to specially selected yeast, and juicy raspberries add unique fruity freshness, depth and sophistication.
This naturally delicious beer with a bright pink texture holds the balance of bitterness and fruity acidity. The aroma of raspberries is reminiscent of carefree warm evenings, and the hop aftertaste emphasizes the importance of the moment.
Taste BERRY BLOOD: raspberry with creamy desserts, fruit salads and light snacks.
CALM IN PARADISE: GUAVA, MANGO & PASSIONFRUIT
Light unfiltered and unpasteurized beer
A light fruity hoppy saur for hot summer days. Forget about water, soft drinks and juices! This beer is the best thirst quencher this season. It has a moderate sourness and slightly pronounced sweetness, a light aroma of fruits and hops.
It is delicious on its own, but it pairs perfectly with vegetable salads, light dishes and desserts.
TWICE BERRY BLOOD: BLUEBERRY, BLACKBERRY & VANILLA
Semi-dark unfiltered and unpasteurized
Extremely tasty beer with noticeable sourness. The aroma of blueberries, blackberries and vanilla awakens the appetite, the deep berry opaque color creates a real pleasure for the eyes.
BERRY BLOOD: LINGONBERRY & ORANGE
A bold and amazing combination of lingonberry and orange. At the first sip, you will be lost in the wilderness. On the second - juicy red berries will dilute the degree with the sweetness of an orange. And the third - the wind blows to meet freedom, and your ignited taste buds are uncontrollably buzzing and asking for more to kill the smell of the hot summer sun.
A crisp, clean and bracingly bitter India Pale Ale brewed to traditional West Coast standards. We’re getting grapefruit, toffee, briny coastal fog, babbling mountainside brooks and sticky-icky pine sap.
A foggy, juicy-as-they-come pale ale utterly saturated in Motueka hops for flavours of melon, crushed lime and strawberry.
Creak is a blend of two barrels filled in June and August 2021. Fermented with saison yeast, Lachancea, Lactobacillus and Brettanomyces before ageing for just over five months on carbonically macerated British Morello cherries.
An ode to one of Balance's favourite Lambic styles, this beer is intensely fruity with jammy notes of ripe cherries, vanilla and almond. Bright acidity and tannic structure complement the underpinning funky elegance and barrel character leading to a moreish finish.
We think this one will age very well.
What a treat! NOLO maestros Mash Gang in the house bringing wizardry and dark arts to the fore in Verdant's first 0.5% beer! Of course, it's a NEIPA. They haven't reduced their hopping rates so expect pungent saturation and full body, proper Verdant-like.
A little ripper this one! Complex layers of tropical fruit and dank weeds with Golden Promise barley bringing some subtle orange hues and bready vibes. A beautiful collab with White Rabbit Books
BRU-1 and Strata dominate proceedings in this full yet light and slightly crisp pale offering. The sister to 300 Laps that oozes grapefruit, pineapple and a skunky dankness. A little bitter bite and a dry finish remind you it's grown up and make you reach for that glass again...and again...and again.
LET IT ENFOLD
Loaded to the brim with two of the dankest hops Track can get their hands on, Let It Enfold is a heady mix of Strata, Strata CGX & Idaho 7. For those that love their hazy IPAs to have all of the usual bright fruit flavours, all layered in amongst a bit of cannabis funk!
DREAMING OF... DDH RIWAKA
Hops are incredible! The aroma, flavour and other nuances they can bring to a beer are something we'll never get bored of. Take this single-hopped Riwaka DDH IPA for example, definitely not for the faint-hearted with its over-the-top bacon frazzle qualities - Track love seeing people stick their noses in and come up with a confused smile on their faces. Dive in and enjoy!
Track's Reflection series continues, and with this beer, they gaze into the rippling waters of one of their/the industry's biggest influences. That beer is, of course, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. One of the first American beers to be widely available in the UK market, and one that started the journey for huge swathes of breweries in the UK & US (including us). It’s a beer that’s never faded and that they continue to enjoy.
This is their take on that beer and with it, they hope they can pay it some of the respect it’s due. They built a base of sweet grainy malts before hitting it with the classic that is Cascade on both the hot side and cold side. The result is big hits of grapefruit & pine, a firm bitterness and a light biscuity malt character. For us… it’s a dream.
1952 VINCENT BLACK LIGHTNING
Says Red Ryan, to James “well that’s a fine Double IPA.” “My hats off to you, it’s got a double dry hop of Cryo Citra, Vic Secret and Simcoe.”
A GLASS CASE OF EMOTION
An IPA with a dry hop of Cryo Mosaic, Cryo Idaho 7 and Topaz? I didn’t understand a one word you said?
BABY DON'T HURT ME

A CASE OF YOU
Old and new meet in this 5% Pale Ale with Chinook providing that classic hop flavour of lemon & lime alongside modern El Dorado presenting its typical juicy flavours. These two hops create a great balance of flavour while maintaining superb drinkability.
PROPER DIPA MOTUEKA
The Proper DIPA series continues, this time it's Motueka. A firm favourite in the brewery so it was time to utilise this hops expansive flavour with Cloudwater's favourite North West yeast from JW Lees. Expect the typical fresh hop aroma with a thick and creamy mouthfeel that hits all the dank & juicy notes you've come to expect.
THE BEST PENGUIN IN THE WORLD
Köln-style lagered ale hopped with the noble German classic, Hallertau Mittelfrüh. Pin-gu bright and clear with a satisfying breadiness and crisp, elegant bitterness. Wak waaak!
SORRY MATE, WORK MODE
A Mosaic heavy IPA. Deep rich aroma of drumstick lolly, guava and red berry, followed by a whiff of fleshy orange. A sticky mid palate leads into some lemon sherbet, grapefruit rind and some squidgy green dank, absolute banger.
ASTRID & SAMI
Classic west coast hops simcoe and chinook combine with vista, for an IPA that brings piney freshness and tropical fruit flavour.
